There is a force shaping agriculture across the world.

It does not always sit in boardrooms.
It is not always recognized in headlines.
But it is present — in fields, in pack houses, in labs, in logistics, in leadership, and in the thousands of daily decisions that determine what the world eats.

It is women.

Across continents, women are planting, leading, managing, building, solving, and sustaining. They carry both legacy and responsibility — often without visibility. And yet, agriculture is changing.

Not loudly.
Not suddenly.
But undeniably.

Women are stepping into leadership not by force, but by capability.
Not by invitation, but by necessity.
They are not waiting to be included.
They are already essential.

And this is personal for me.

The tagline for herloombloom where you are planted — comes from my grandmother, who always used to say in Afrikaans: Blom waar jy geplant is. It is a phrase that stayed with me, because it speaks to resilience, purpose, faith, and becoming fully who you are, wherever life has placed you. herloom is rooted in legacy, but designed for modern scale and influence.

My grandmother on her engagement day, circa 1940.

This platform begins with women in agriculture — because this is where I have seen their strength, brilliance, sacrifice, and leadership up close. But its message reaches far beyond agriculture. At its core, herloom is for women everywhere who are building, leading, growing, enduring, and becoming — often without enough recognition, and yet with extraordinary impact.

Agriculture has always been built on legacy—
on knowledge passed down,
on land nurtured over time,
on hands that shape what feeds the world.
For too long, the stories of women in agriculture
have been present—but not visible.
Essential—but not elevated.

herloom exists to change that.
We believe that women are not just participants in agriculture—
they are architects of its future.
We are a platform for the growers, the builders, the leaders,
the innovators shaping fields, businesses, and communities across the globe.
We honor where we come from—
and invest in where we are going.
We cultivate connection.
We elevate voices.
We build legacy.
This is more than a brand.
This is herloom.

This is not only about recognition.
It is about honoring contribution.
It is about creating connection.
It is about telling the truth about who has always helped carry industries, families, communities, and futures forward.

And the truth is simple:
Women have always been essential.

So this is the beginning. Women Are Reshaping Agriculture. The Platform Doesn’t Exist Yet.

I’ll be sharing herloom as a bi-weekly newsletter as a start to build out a platform and a space for thoughtful reflections, stories, ideas, and conversations rooted in agriculture, leadership, identity, growth, and the women shaping what comes next.
herloom stories: Content → stories, insights, leadership voices, spotlighting leaders, building visibility
herloom network: Community → network of women across regions and sectors
herloom summit: Events → annual events to gain insight and reset
herloom capital: Legacy → long-term impact beyond individual careers

This platform begins with women in agriculture, but its message is for any woman who is building, leading, growing, and learning to bloom where she has been planted.

If you’ve ever felt unseen in your work, your leadership, or your contribution — this is for you. You were never invisible to me.

Christina Marcos, Founder of herloom

Know a woman in agriculture — or any woman growing where she has been planted — who would connect with this message?
Forward this to her. She may be exactly who herloom is for.
